Coping With Covid

Managed Care & Private Pay groups available //  offered via tele-therapy to anyone in Ohio

Coping with Covid is a new teletherapy group at Compass Point for individuals trying to figure out life during the ongoing pandemic.We will cover different mental health topics including tips, tricks and resources we can use to build awareness, motivation and coping skills. 

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT®)

Managed Care & Private Pay groups available // Time, Day & Locations vary // Treatment Plan created at Evaluation Appointment.
The overarching goal of DBT® is to obtain “a life worth living” by providing skills to manage emotions, to tolerate distress and to improve relationships.  DBT® has been shown to be effective in reducing suicidal behaviors, hospitalizations, and problems with anger, depression, and hopelessness.  DBT® treats multiple modes of dysregulation including emotion dysregulation which is defined as a combination of extreme emotional vulnerability with difficulty in regulating emotions once they are aroused.  DBT® clients learn an array of skills to manage their emotions and the impulsive and almost automatic behaviors that often accompany strong emotions.

DBT for Addictions and Substance Use skills group

$50 Private Pay or Insurance Billable  // Meets quarterly on Saturday Mornings 10a-12p // Anderson Office

This group is for any adult currently in DBT or recently graduated (within the last year) who would benefit from learning the DBT skills specific to addiction behaviors.  By the end of the group, clients will have learned specific skills related to addiction behaviors that are not fully covered in standard DBT as well as how to apply other DBT skills towards addiction concerns.

If interested, clients should speak to their Individual Therapist about a referral or discuss this in their DBT intake.  This group is appropriate for adults with substance use concerns as well as other types of addiction behaviors.
This group can be billed through insurance similarly to a client's standard DBT groups or private pay of $50 per group.

DBT FRIENDS AND FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP

$25 // Meets quarterly on Saturday Mornings // Anderson Office or Fairfield office (on rotation)

DBT Friends and Family is a support group for individuals who have a loved one that is participating in DBT treatment.  We understand that the DBT concepts and skills are foreign to you and that your loved ones behaviors, thoughts, and/or feelings may be confusing.  We believe that you have a desire to help facilitate positive change.

The goal of DBT Friends and Family is two-fold:
1. We seek to support you and connect you with others who understand this stress
2. We seek teach you core DBT skills and concepts so that you can relate and help your loved one

DBT ACES (Accepting the challenges of exiting the care system)

$20 // Meets weekly on Monday Evenings 6:15-7:45p  // Fairfield Office
Clients who have completed two cycles (one year) of Standard Dialectical
Behavioral Therapy skills class and are still struggling to find their life worth living -or-are seeking a greater understanding or practice of DBT skills and concepts of behavioral change.

The Goal of our DBT ACES program : Clients will push ahead with new goals to help them create a support network,
acquire employment that is in line with their values and needs, experience their emotions and are able
to demonstrate mastery of standard DBT skills. At completion of DBT-ACES, the client will be finished
with standard weekly therapy or will seek a specific treatment (ie: exposure therapy). It is recognized
that continuing with standard weekly therapy keeps the client dependent on the mental health system
thus reinforcing their identity of mental illness.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction to Improve Medical Outcomes

$240 Private Pay // Meets weekly for 9 weeks + a one day 7 hour intensive  ( 25 hours total) //  Thursdays 4-6pm // Fairfield Office
​Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction has been used around the world to improve medical outcomes for people with chronic health conditions. The mind of the client is often underutilized in treatment of health concerns. There is a powerful capacity in the mind of the client to improve their own health, if given the right tools. This group seeks to teach clients what those tools are and how to use them.  It is not a replacement for other medical and mental health treatments but rather an adjunct to use alongside your current treatment plan. The group will focus on using four mindful practices to improve overall health. Instructors will seek to coordinate with other providers to ensure the best possible outcomes

Recovering From Addiction

A tele-therapy group at Compass Point // $40 Private pay or billable through Anthem insurance // Saturdays 10-11 AM

 This group is for adults who are working on gaining better control over their drinking or substance use.  This is appropriate for clients needing outpatient level of care or looking for aftercare from higher levels of care. 

Support for Family and Friends of Addiction

$30 Private Pay //  The last Saturday of the Month 10a-12pm  // Anderson Office

This group is open to adults who have been impacted by a friend or family member with addiction.  This is an education and support group focused on teaching skills to help family and friends be more effective with their family/friend.  Each month we will cover a different topic.

The Teen Talks

$25 per group //   Anderson & Dayton Offices
These groups are for teens to discuss common themes such as academic pressure, depression, anxiety, and social stressors. We will also learn and utilize skills effective in coping with difficult emotions, managing stress, communicating effectively, and practicing relaxation.

WEEKLY SITTING PRACTICE (FREE)

FREE! // Meets weekly on Wednesday mornings from 10:00am to 10:20am // Fairfield Office
We have a brief introduction to the style of meditation followed by a 15-20 minute meditation sitting practice. After, we spend a few minutes discussing the experience. A small amount of time that makes a big impact! Walk ins are welcome, however we recommend coming about 10 minutes before meditation starts.
