Jordan Thurman (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Independent Social Worker Supervisor who is board Certified through the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist Board. She received her Bachelor of Social Work from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and then, she received a Masters of Social Work from Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. Jordan began her career in social work in 2013, providing case management and therapeutic services.
Jordan works with a variety of clients, but has a passion for working with women, the LGBTQIA+ community, survivors of trauma, and individuals who have experienced loss. She specializes in working with new parents, as she is certified in perinatal mental health, and she has specific training in working with perinatal and infant loss. Jordan also has experience working with depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, substance use disorders, foster/adoptive families, stress/life transitions, grief, and many more populations. While Jordan embraces using an eclectic approach to therapy modalities to help meet a client’s individual needs, some of her preferred and most utilized approaches are cognitive behavioral therapy, supportive therapy, interpersonal theory, motivational interviewing, EMDR, solution-focused brief therapy, and strengths-based perspective.
Jordan values to make sure her clients feel supported, validated, and respected by creating an empowering space free of judgment. She believes a person-centered approach is vital to helping a client reach their defined goals. Jordan seeks to help clients recognize their own resilience and resources. In her free time, Jordan enjoys playing board games and watching 90's Nickelodeon shows
