“People start to heal the moment they feel heard” - Cheryl Richardson
I think many of us have felt unheard at one point or another. As a social worker and therapist, my goal is to hold space for my clients and truly hear what they have to say, whether that is verbally or through art, music, or play.
I have experience working with clients as young as 4 years old, all the way up through adulthood. I specialize in childhood trauma and am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF- CBT) as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). While those are my formally trained skills, I also inform my practice with Dialectical Behavior Therapy as well as the Polyvagal Theory.
I believe in treating the health of a whole person — mind, body, and spirit — as one does not exist without the others. Whether a client comes in for anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, self-harm, self-esteem, or even just to talk to someone, I believe that incorporating this holistic approach of mindfulness of body, emotions, and connections is beneficial for everyone.
Since beginning my social work career, I have been drawn also toward working with individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+. As someone who identifies in this community, I have a lived experience that aids in my ability to come alongside and support those who are also part of that community in working toward their goals.
I enjoy getting to know individuals for who they are, not how other people may perceive them. In past positions I have had the opportunity of working with incredibly diverse clientele. Those experiences have shown me how important it is to embrace, rather than discard or ignore, differences and individual stories.
I do not seek to fix any of my clients or give any life advice. I simply strive to provide a safe place to experience vulnerability and growth. I would love to begin this journey with you.
