Sara May is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) whose clinical approach prioritizes discovering her clients' strengths and helping them focus on what is going well in their lives. She understands that each client will have unique needs, even if their diagnosis is the same. As such, she utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as: Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), among others. She strives to meet her clients where they are and provide a safe space for them to reach their therapeutic goals.
Mrs. May earned her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology from The Ohio State University in 2017. She also completed coursework to obtain minors in Criminology and Substance Misuse & Addiction. She went on to receive her Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2019, also from The Ohio State University. Before coming to Compass Point, Mrs. May worked at Netcare Access in Columbus, providing telephonic crisis intervention as well as helping secure homeless shelter placement for men, women, and children in Franklin County. From there, she transitioned to a medical social worker role at OhioHealth. She also holds a PRN position with Kindred Hospice.
Ultimately, Mrs. May hopes that all her clients feel heard, accepted and safe. She looks forward to establishing trusting therapeutic relationships with Compass Point clients.
