This training introduces key requirements and competencies for being a tele-therapist. Individuals who complete this training will have a beginner-level understanding of best practices, where concepts and strategies can be expanded upon in subsequent trainings.

Instructor Bio’s:
Charles J Potter PhD, LPCC-S is a professional counselor in the state of Ohio and one of Mindfully’s clinical directors. Prior to this, Charles taught online in Ohio State University’s Counselor Education program where he also trained new faculty and teaching associates how to maximize their effectiveness as distance-based educators. During this time he earned both the “Outstanding Graduate Teaching Associate” as well as the “Doctoral Student of the Year” awards.

- Participants will recognize key rules and expectations for delivering therapy via distance-based means effectively.
- Participants will memorize key legal/ethical standards for the state of Ohio when practicing as a distance-based provider.
- Participants will be able to apply standards for documentation including informed consent as well as assessments, session notes, etc.
- Participants will be able to describe an appropriate space to conduct teletherapy and technology requirements.
- Participants will be able to define strategies for maximizing effectiveness and minimizing burnout as a distance-based therapist.
- Participants will be able to summarize concerns related to the risks of dual relationships and boundary concerns as it relates to maintaining a digital presence (i.e. social media, etc.).

- Complete post-program evaluation.
- Complete post-pogram knowledge test with a passing percentage of 80% with the opportunity to retest until passed.
- Certificates for completion will be sent electronically via email within seven business days after the completion of all course requirements.
