Program Summary:
Grand rounds is an opportunity for clinicians to collaborate on cases related to different topics. In July 2023 we review a case related to wellness where a client has been working with a primary care doctor as well as a psychiatrist and is hoping adding a mental health therapist to his treatment team will lead to a long sought breakthrough. We review this case from a strengths-based wellness lens that hopes to promote holistic wellness and quality of life. We also review the role of mental health providers in healthcare at large, including ways to advocate effectively for our clients with medical providers. Strategies for facilitating holistic healthcare are shared and participants are encouraged to come prepared to talk about how they can apply these principles to the clients they serve. Resources and referral options are also shared.
Learning Objectives:
· Participants will identify clinical concerns for clients by reviewing a fictional vignette.
· Participants will be able to summarize client concerns and strengths.
· Participants will be able to apply principles of effective collaboration of care & advocacy with other health care providers.
· Participants will be able to identify critical strengths of therapists in healthcare and promoting well-being.
· Participants will be able to identify potential pitfalls, causes for concern, or other situations where further consultation or referrals may be necessary.
