This training will clarify the needs of clients with negative body image and highlight
CBT treatment strategies to better help them. During this training we will learn how negative body
image is caused and what therapy strategies have proven to be most helpful for these clients. You will
learn practical applications for assessment and implementation of SPECIFIC interventions.
Purpose (why): Negative body image is rampant, especially among women, and can lead to a host of
other mental health issues. It can be triggered by many thins that we encounter in our daily lives and yet
we are left defenseless. This seminar will provide a general competency to attendees regarding the
causes and ramifications of negative body image and what strategies can help dismantle it.
Audience (who): Licensed mental health professionals. Nurses can receive reciprocal CEUs. CEUs are
approved for Social Workers, Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists CEUs (RCS030903) and
Chemical Dependency CEUs. CE Broker tracking number: 50-2404

- Understand the societal factors that impact body image for clients
- Become familiar with effective interventions for treating clients with negative body image
- Apply cognitive behavior therapy skills to address the underlying symptoms associated with
body image disorders - Learn to differentiate whether a client would benefit from CBT for treatment of their body
image related disorders or needs higher level of care
