The purpose of this training is to educate clinicians on how to diagnose and treat children with reactive attachment disorder. There is a secondary goal of providing parent and school coaching strategies as these members of the child’s life often feel “at a loss”. Clinicians should expect to walk away with a newfound understanding and sense of hope for this diagnosis. The DSM V provides us with diagnostic criteria for RAD which we will break down and full understand during this training. RAD treatment will require a shift in thinking from child-focused therapy to directive treatment which can be difficult at times. Children with attachment disorder need firm boundaries which will be a focus of this training.
